NFF President Visits Injured Super Eagles Stars in Europe

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau has made a special trip to Europe to visit three key Super Eagles players – William Troost-Ekong, Zaidu Sanusi and Simon Moses – who are currently recuperating from varying injuries.

Ekong underwent surgery on his injury after helping Nigeria finish second in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

 

 

Gusau extended his visit to Portugal where he checked in on the progress of Sanusi, who plays FC Porto.

The Left-back played through injury in Cote d’Ivoire before and aggravated it during on his to FC Porto.

However Sanusi’s recovery process is underway, with hopes high for his return to full fitness.

The NFF president made a stop in France to see Simon, who suffered an Achilles injury during an international friendly against Mali, ruling him out for the remainder of Nantes’ season.

All three players were instrumental in Nigeria’s impressive campaign at the 2023 AFCON.

Ekong’s contributions, including three goals, earned him the Most Valuable Player accolade, while Moses started four out of six matches and securing two Man of the Match awards. Sanusi featured in five matches.

Despite their notable recovery progress, the trio’s availability for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June remains uncertain.
