Troost-Ekong Nears Return from Injury

Nigeria and PAOK Salonica defender, William Troost-Ekong has provided an encouraging update on his recovery progress following a thigh injury that sidelined him earlier this year.

Ekong sustained the injury during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cote d’Ivoire, which led to him undergoing surgery in February to address the issue.

In a recent interview with Eagle7 fm, the 30-year-old disclosed that he has already commenced training on the grass with the ball, signaling a significant step forward in his rehabilitation.

He expressed optimism about rejoining the group in a matter of days, much earlier than initially anticipated.

While initial fears suggested Troost-Ekong could be out of action for three to four months, his remarkable recovery has seen him making progress just seven weeks post-surgery.

“I have had my first session on grass with the ball and I am just a matter of days to rejoining the group,” the PAOK Salonica of Greece defender disclosed.

“It was first feared I will be out for three, four months, but it is now just seven weeks after surgery.”
