The Nigeria Football Federation has, on Monday, announced the appointment of Finidi George as Super Eagles head coach.

No clear terms was stated about Finidi’s appointment, but his immediate task will be to guide Nigeria through the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

In a statement made available, Monday, the NFF board approved the nomination of the 52 year-old who had served as Assistant coach for 20 months.

Meanwhile Finidi is also expected to continue in his immediate role as head coach of NPFL side, Enyimba.

In his interim position, the former Nigeria International guided the Super Eagles in two International friendlies without assistant coaches or match scouts.

Yet, no announcement was made by the NFF as per his backroom staff.

Nigeria returns to action in June with the World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in Uyo and Abidjan respectively.
