'He's really big' - Jake Paul has drastically bulked up for Mike Tyson fight but still has 'speed'

Jake Paul has piled on weight to face Mike Tyson, according to his trainer Shane Mosley.

Paul will face heavyweight icon Tyson on July 20, with a significant size difference between the pair as the ‘Problem Child’ has weighed in just over 198lbs at his highest for his win over Andre August in December 2023.

Tyson tipped the scales at 239lbs in his heaviest fight against Brian Nielsen in October 2001, but looks in menacing shape from training footage posted to his social media.

In surprising news, Paul’s trainer and boxing legend Mosley has claimed that the YouTube star is now walking around at 230lbs.

Mosley said on his YouTube channel: “I just saw Jake yesterday, he’s 230 pounds.

“He’s big, really big. He said he feels as fast as he does at 185lbs.”

Paul has yet to be seen with his new bulky physique on social media, but it is a drastic change three months out from the mega event.

The 26-year-old linked up with Mosley for his first ever professional fight against AnEsonGib in Miami, but Paul went with BJ Flores when Mosley focused on projects elsewhere.

Paul has since revived his working relationship with his original coach, with Mosley cornering the influencer to a win over ex-UFC star Nate Diaz in August 2023.

He has now been working with Paul in his Puerto Rico gym again, and looks set to be in the fighter’s corner to face Tyson.

Paul believes he has a tough task on his hands, given the way he has reacted to Tyson’s menacing power on the pads in drills.

There will be a 31-year age gap on the night however, and it remains to be seen if Tyson can sustain his work as a boxing veteran aged 58.

Now the inexperienced Paul has decided to pile on weight, it could take away a huge advantage of speed, but give him more power behind his shots.

And justifiably health concerns over Tyson taking powerful punches at his age have been raised, including in medical warnings from doctors.

Tyson’s trainer Rafael Cordeiro has warned Paul that his fighter is also in superb condition and ready to inflict a trademark KO on the night.

On Friday night, Paul took to social media showing that he’s not just adding weight to his body, but also hair to his head.

The 27-year-old debuted a new hairstyle, though it’s not yet clear if he will be keeping it for the Tyson fight on July 20.

One fan who saw him at a boxing event on Friday tweeted: “Just saw Jake Paul. He looks all of that 230lbs rumour.”
