The former Nigeria international is one of the candidates for the vacant position following the exit of Jose Peseiro.
Amuneke, however has his hand full against former teammate, Finidi George, the current interim boss who also worked as Peseiro’s assistant.
Amuneke said he dreams of leading the Super Eagles, and believes that he has what it takes to make the three-time champions world-beaters again.
“I was with the team in 2022 where we narrowly missed out on the World Cup in Qatar. I know the players very well, and can help play to their strengths with more freedom.
“We have great talents in the Eagles, it is for them to have that self-belief and confidence that they can bring back the glory days again,” He told Punch.
Emmanuel Amuneke led the Golden Eaglets to win the U-17 World Cup in 2015, and Tanzania to 2019 African Cup of Nations.
He also handled Nigeria’s U20 Flying Eagles but failed to qualify for the World Cup.
His brief spell as a club manager in Sudan and Egypt ended with disappointment.
