Footage of Robin Lopez reading a book near Bucks' bench during NBA game goes viral after he was traded away to the Kings

Robin Lopez instantly went viral with his literary reaction to being traded on NBA deadline day.

While his brother Brook still plays for the Milwaukee Bucks, Robin was traded on Thursday to the Sacramento Kings, who are expected to waive him so the veteran big man can become a free agent.

Since he was still in Milwaukee during the Bucks’ 129-105 home defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves after the NBA trade deadline expired, Robin decided to keep himself busy.

By reading a book.

For potentially the first time in NBA history, a player was seen reading a book near the court during a regular-season NBA game.

Robin was so into his paperback that he was too busy to look up while the Bucks were in the middle of a game.

His literary dedication immediately went viral, with a video of an NBA player reading a book receiving more than 3 million views in less than 10 hours.

“He’s just there supporting big brother,” one fan tweeted.

“This guy is hilarious,” a second fan posted.

“Bro said ‘Time to take school serious,’ ” a third fan wrote.

“Stanford guy. He’s dead serious about that book,” a fourth fan pointed out.

Robin, 35, attended Stanford with his brother, Brook.

While Brook is a key part of a Bucks team that has already fired Adrian Griffin as head coach in an attempt to win the NBA Finals following the addition of Damian Lillard, Robin is a role-playing reserve.

He’s played in 992 NBA games (607 starts) but had averaged just 4.1 minutes in 16 games for the Bucks this season.

“I enjoyed being teammates with Patrick Beverley for all of an hour and 45 minutes. I’ll never forget those times,” Robin tweeted.

Once he’s an NBA free agent, Robin will have even more time to make his way through his personal library.

His brother, Brook, will try to win another world title with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
