Led by Emmanuel Ojeli, Patience Okon-George, Samson Nathaniel, and Omolara Ogunmankinju, the quartet blazed their way to an African record in 3:13:26 beating Botswana (NR) and Kenya.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Team Nigeria had set a game’s record clocking 3:15.23.
Meanwhile, second placed Botswana and South Africa, who finished fourth, set new National Records clocking 3:13:99 and 3:18:54 respectively.
Ghana, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Namibia crossed the finish line in that order.
