In a tightly contested match, Uganda put up a resilient defense, frustrating the Falconets until the 74th minute when Adaobi, just moments after coming on for Olushola Shobowale, made an immediate impact by finding the net with her first touch of the game.
The goal injected momentum into Nigeria’s play, and they capitalized further when Okwuchukwu added a second goal in the dying minutes of the game, sealing the victory and their spot in the final.
Despite Uganda’s determined effort, they were unable to withstand the Falconets’ late surge, conceding twice in the last 16 minutes of the match.
As a result, the East Africans will now compete for the bronze medal in the women’s football event.
The Falconets, aiming to defend their title, will face Ghana in the final, who secured their spot with a 3-1 victory over Senegal in the second semi-final.
