Ryan Reynolds' Wrexham to play two friendlies in the U.S. and one in Canada

Wrexham are heading back to North America on tour as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s club will head to the United States and Canada for a series of pre-season fixtures.

Details for the fixtures confirm that Wrexham will play two games in California and another in Vancouver, Canada, as part of the Welsh club’s preparations for next season.

They were announced in an online video on Thursday, with co-chairman Reynolds and McElhenney encouraging fans to purchase tickets to see them action.

The Welsh club have secured their place in League One – the third tier of the English Football League – after back-to-back promotions under their ambitious owners Reynolds and McElhenney.

Wrexham rose to worldwide fame after being bought by the Hollywood actors in 2021. Under their management, Wrexham have spent large amounts of transfers to bolster their squad and were rewarded with a play-off victory last season. This year, they went one better by securing automatic promotion.

And with a growing fanbase across the pond thanks to the globally broadcast documentary ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, the team are set to play on American soil again after featuring against Chelsea and Manchester United in July last year.

Which teams will Wrexham play in the United States and Canada?

The team will play Bournemouth in Santa Barbara on July 20, Chelsea again in Santa Clara on July 24 and Vancouver Whitecaps on July 27.

Ahead of their trip back to the States, head coach Phil Parkinson has labeled the chance to play Premier League opposition as a “great opportunity” for his players.

“It will be a great opportunity to meet new fans and, at the same time, prepare for the 2024-25 League One season,” Parkinson said.

Reynolds’ team also welcomed Ally Financial as title sponsor of the Wrexham AFC Women’s summer tour, as they prepare to follow the men’s team across the Atlantic, with details of the women’s tour will be released in the near future.
