Nigeria’s oldest health institution, OYSCHST, marks 90th anniversary | The Guardian Nigeria News

Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology has unveiled activities to commemorate its 90th anniversary. The ceremony combines graduating sets of 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions.

The celebration will be attended by Governor Seyi Makinde and celebrated by all stakeholders, including alumni of the college across the world.
Acting Provost of the institution, Moradeke Oluyemisi Oyewo, in her remarks, said the institution awarded 645 National Diploma (ND) certificates at its convocation ceremony.

She, however, appealed to the government to fulfill its promise on accreditation of Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates, which she said, would benefit not only the current students but also future generations.

Chairman, Governing Council, Dr. Aaron Ola Ogundiwin, said the anniversary was to showcase the college’s potentials to the world and create awareness on maintenance of good health in the state.

He listed some of the activities lined up for the event to include a symposium, talent hunts and cultural activities by the students, sports competitions between the alumni, members of staff and students, as well as an award ceremony for outstanding members of staff.

Other programmes include Founders’ Day service on April 1, 2023, a documentary titled “OYSCHST@90: The Journey so far,” convocation lecture on
“Sustaining Qualitative Health Service Delivery in the Midst of Brain Drain Syndrome in Nigeria,” to be delivered by Prof. Kayode Osungbade, a Public Health Expert, University of Ibadan. Alumni Day/Home coming will hold on March 31, 2023.
