Grim footage of Jamahal Hill’s arm dangling following sick submission resurfaces ahead of UFC 300

Jamahal Hill’s arm was left dangling out of place after falling victim to a sickening submission from Paul Craig.

The American MMA star duked it out with Craig at UFC 263 on June 12 2021, in a light-heavyweight bout.

Hill came out of the gates looking to land eye-catching shots on the feet.

However, as soon as he forced Craig up against the cage, the tenacious Scot latched hold of Hill’s arm and pulled guard.

Hill desperately tried to wrestle his arm free but as they tussled for dominance on the ground, Craig locked in an armbar submission that dislocated his adversary’s elbow.

Despite having his elbow ripped out of the joint, Hill refused to tap and so Craig was forced to finish the contest by raining down strikes from full guard.

Referee Yves Lavigne eventually stepped in and waved off the contest after failing to identify Hill had sustained the gruesome injury earlier in the opening stanza.

Speaking about the injury to TMZ Sports a few days after suffering the first and only loss of his professional career, Hill said: “It’s not as bad as it looked.

“There’s no break. My elbow just dislocated pretty badly but they were able to pop it back in and the doctor said it’s rock solid.

“It’s doing all the movement that it needs to, it’s just going to be sore for a while.

“I’ll follow up with my doctor when I land back at home and we’re gonna go from there. Hopefully, I can be back in real soon.

“It was a little discomfort whenever I first originally looked down and saw it, pain didn’t really register, it was just ‘Win.’

“It was just the competitor in me. I tried to knock him out. I was like,’ ‘Alright, you’ve got to land that shot, try to knock him out.’

“That’s what I went for but it was pretty bad spot for me not being able to post up with my arm at that time.

“The only thing I can do from that point is, ‘How’s my face on the ground? Learn. Good lesson.

“Alright, this happened.’ Instantly my mind is on growth, how do I grow from here?

“I got up and went to the official, stood up at the official decision to show respect to my opponent, to show respect to the game.

“I went and took my lumps and now I’m gonna adjust and I’m gonna come back.”

Luckily for Hill, although the injury certainly looked horrific, he was back in the Octagon six months later as he knocked out Jimmy Crute in the first round to bounce back in style.

Stoppage wins over Johnny Walker and Thiago Santos followed, before he was called to face Glover Teixeira for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title.

Hill went on to win the title fight via unanimous decision but was forced to relinquish his crown one month later after rupturing his Achilles tendon while playing basketball.

Now, after 14 months on the sidelines, Hill is looking to reclaim the 205lb strap as he steps into the cage with his successor Alex Pereira at UFC 300 on April 13.

Pereira won the vacant belt by beating former title holder Jiri Prochazka last November.

The Brazilian MMA star is also a former UFC middleweight champion and two-weight Glory kickboxing titlist.
