Finidi Defends Tanimu Benjamin’s Super Eagles Call up – Latest Sports News In Nigeria

Tanimu Benjamin, a Tanzanian-based central defender, made his maiden Super Eagles appearance during their recent clash against Ghana on Friday.

Benjamin, aged 21, marked his debut with an impressive performance, playing the entirety of the match as Nigeria secured a 2-1 victory in the match.

Finidi expressed satisfaction with the Player’s contribution to the team, highlighting the youngster’s promising potential on the field.

“He is a player that I wanted while he was still at Bendel Insurance but it didn’t work out,” Finidi Recalls.

“With all the injuries that we had, we had to look for a player that can substitute and it came to my mind to invite him and he’s doing so well in his club in Tanzania, so why not.”

According to the Super Eagles coach, Tanimu’s debut adds a fresh dimension to the team’s roster, reflecting their ongoing efforts to integrate new talents and enhance a competitive edge.

“Not bad. Being his first time, it’s not easy wearing that national colours but overall I would give him credit.

“It’s not a bad one for the first time wearing that jersey, to be there, and up and doing, it’s a great thing.”
