Anthony Joshua praised as best heavyweight in world with bold Tyson Fury prediction after brutal Francis Ngannou KO

Anthony Joshua has been touted as the best heavyweight in the world after beating Francis Ngannou in sensational fashion.

Ngannou and Joshua met in a heavyweight clash with huge stakes on Friday night in Saudi Arabia, with the winner set for a potential shot at the winner of Tyson Fury’s clash with Oleksandr Usyk.

And it was Joshua who made an incredible start, flooring Ngannou in the first round with a crisp straight backhand which sent him tumbling to the canvas.

AJ did it again in the second round, dropping his rival to the canvas before he clambered to his feet.

The former two-time champion then splattered Ngannou out cold in a simply incredible performance as the medics attended to the champion.

Paramedics stormed the ring to check the ex-UFC champion was okay, and he rose to his feet after a seriously brutal stoppage.

talkSPORT held an exclusive watchalong featuring a huge panel of experts including Spencer Oliver, Josh Warrington and ex-Watford striker Troy Deeney.

And former fighter Oliver was glowing with his praise and even suggested that the fighter would beat Tyson Fury if the pair met this year.

“I put my neck out earlier by saying he was best in the era but I believed in what I said,” Oliver said in an excited outburst.

“But I believe there he has shown that he is the top of the division. That right hand was truly devastating.

“Joshua showed his class, he didn’t jump in too early like the Ruiz fight. He learned from his mistakes and showed why he is a two-time world champion.

“And I believe right now he is the best heavyweight in the world, Tyson Fury he beats him.”

Joshua will now want to challenge the ‘Gypsy King’ who will meet Usyk next as part of a two-fight deal for the undisputed titles.

However, Fury watching from ringside insisted that he wins if the pair settle their differences inside the ring.

In response to AJ welcoming a fight, Fury said on the DAZN broadcast: “I’m sure Oleksandr Usyk will have something to say something about that. I had a s*** performance against Ngannou.

“AJ did absolutely fantastic and lit him up with a right hand, if he fights me after I beat Usyk twice then it will be a different game.

“There is quite a long way to go, fantastic performance from AJ but I have bigger fish to fry.”

British fans in particular will now want to see the rivalry settled more than ever after Joshua’s astonishing performance on the night.
