Will Marcus Rashford be fit to face Bournemouth? Erik ten Hag offers injury update after Liverpool knock

Marcus Rashford is winning his battle to be fit for Manchester United’s Premier League trip to Bournemouth this weekend.

The England star limped out of last Sunday’s 2-2 draw with arch-rivals Liverpool to add to the club’s already daunting injury list.

Erik ten Hag will be searching for his first top-flight win in over a month when his side head to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

United sit 11 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, with any hopes of securing Champions League football rapidly fading fast.

The Old Trafford outfit already have eight players ruled out for the trip to Bournemouth, most of whom are the club’s defenders.

So Ten Hag can ill-afford to lose his joint top goalscorer in the Premier League this season from his attack.

The 26-year-old is set to be available to take on the Cherries, but fellow topscorer Scott McTominay will miss out through injury.

“Scott, I don’t think so,” United manager Ten Hag said during his pre-match press conference.

“We have a training training, so we have a day, he will push, he is so keen to be a part of it tomorrow, so it’s very questionable.

“Rashy trained yesterday, so how he recovered from it today, we have another training today and then we will make a decision on it.”

Rashford’s fitness boost comes just after the forward won the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award for March.

The England international’s long-range stunner in the 3-1 defeat to Man City last month saw him claim the accolade for the first time.

Although it is Rashford’s first in his career, he becomes the eighth different United player and the fourth this season alone.

He follows Bruno Fernandes’ volley against Burnley in September, Alejandro Garnacho’s overhead kick at Everton and Kobbie Mainoo’s late Wolves winner.
