Bayern Munich manager, Thomas Tuchel has shed light on his daring decision to replace Harry Kane in Bayern Munich’s Champions League semifinal loss to Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Bayern appeared poised to secure an all-German final as Alphonso Davies propelled the visitors ahead 3-2 on aggregate at the Bernabeu.
However, Real Madrid orchestrated a late resurgence, stunning Bayern Munich and advancing to the final in pursuit of their 15th European Cup.
Manuel Neuer, previously instrumental with several remarkable saves, faltered in the dying moments, spilling a routine catch and enabling Joselu to level the score in the 88th minute.
“We started with a front four and all four had to go out with injury or cramp,” Tuchel told TNT Sports.
“Kane was having back problems, it was no longer possible. The front four all said they had to go.”
