There was commotion yesterday in the Felele area of Lokoja, Kogi State after some unknown gunmen reportedly attacked a white garment church said to be the Celestial Church of Christ.

Reports reaching Naija News on Monday morning revealed that two persons died in the attack while three others sustained degrees of injuries. It was gathered that the incident happened late Sunday evening behind NNPC Mega station in Felele.

Confirming the incident, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) William Ovye Aya said the command received a distress call of some hoodlums invading a Celestial Church behind the NNPC mega station and began shooting.

“Two people were confirmed dead in the hospital, while three are receiving treatment. The Commissioner of Police has deployed our operatives, and ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the investigation, to commence an investigation to unravel the cause of the attack with a view to arresting the perpetrators,” the police mouthpiece said.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness had told Daily Post earlier that the gunmen stormed the church in a fiery mode and started shooting at people in the vicinity.

The injured victims, according to the source whose name is withheld, are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Lokoja.

“when they entered, they started shooting at everyone outside the church. I now went and hid inside a cassava farm. What I saw yesterday was like an action film in a movie. Kogi is no longer safe,” the news platform quoted the eyewitness as saying.
