Nigerian singer, Fireboy DML, has reflected on his journey to musical growth, revealing that he once tried to copy the stage presence of Beyoncé, but failed woefullyI

In an interview with RollingStone, Fireboy recounted his experiences, admitting his challenges to imitate Beyoncé’s performances.

According to Fireboy, despite his trial, the level of excellence achieved by the multiple Grammy winner remained off reach for him.

Fireboy disclosed his determination to change and improve his craft.

He revealed how he transfered his aspirations of performing in front of massive audiences into his songwriting process, envisioning himself on stage even during the creation of his most heartfelt compositions.

Fireboy stressed the importance of personal growth and development as an artist.

In his words;

“Right from time, even when I used to write my saddest songs, I used to imagine myself playing them in front of millions of people. I always imagine myself on stage when I write my songs.

“So taking that energy from the studio to stage is really a piece of cake for me. What matters to me is making sure that I have fun. When I enjoyed myself, everyone else enjoyed themselves. Step by step, I learned from the greats, I studied; did artist development stuff like vocal training.

“There was a time I tried to copy Beyonce’s routine. But I didn’t last two days.”
