Police arrest man for producing fake alcoholic drinks in Delta

Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has said operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Bomadi Division have arrested a middle-aged man, Chiemenam Adigwe, with over a hundred bottles of alcoholic beverage.

CP Olufemi disclosed this at a press briefing today.

He said the suspect was arrested on 25th April 2024 at about 1100 hours over allegations of adulterating alcohols such as Gordons, Chelsea, Eagle Schnapps and McDowell’s.

CP Olufemi said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect mixes ethanol with water and adds flavourings to them and then packages the fake drinks in empty bottles of Gordons, Chelsea, and McDowell’s which he usually buys from Onitsha.

“Suspect also stated that when he supplies to his customers, he tells them he usually orders the drinks from Onitsha.

“Suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing.”
