Pensioners Storm Govt House, Protest Unpaid Gratuities, Pension

Over 10,000 pensioners throughout the 25 native authorities areas of Niger state have stormed the federal government in Minna to stage a protest over unpaid pension and gratuities.

The pensioners led by Ibrahim Mahmud moved from the union’s secretariat to the federal government home with placards with inscriptions equivalent to “non fee of pension shouldn’t be acceptable,”Pensioner lives matter” ”no gratuity no pension, no vote in 2023” and ‘‘we will occupy till Lolo” pays amongst others.

Mahmud informed the Secretary to the State Authorities (SSG) Ahmed Matane that they’d misplaced a few of their members on account of their incapacity to get funds to deal with themselves after they fall sick.

He accused the state authorities of abandoning them with out their pensions regardless of a number of bailouts and Paris membership funds which the state had obtained.

He famous that the federal government have chosen to be unsympathetic to their plights regardless of their cries and lamentations.

He said that;”We’ll not settle for fee of gratuities on share.

“Our brothers, sisters and oldsters are dying, and now we have no cash to feed our households, pay hire or deal with ourselves once we are sick.

“The Niger state authorities has deserted us. We misplaced two of our pensioners on Monday morning as a result of they haven’t any cash to deal with themselves.

“Inform the governor that our protest would proceed till we get a concrete decision.

“We’ve got over 10,000 pensioners on the bottom and we’ll occupy the federal government home till we’re paid” Mahmud added.
