Ogun Assembly confirms Abiodun’s new Commissioner nominees

Ogun State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of the two additional Commissioner-nominees as sent to it by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

The nominees, Mrs. Olufemi Ilori and Mr Jamiu Odetogun, had on Wednesday appeared before the House for screening.

The confirmation of the nominees, whose names were contained in a correspondence recently sent to the Assembly by the Governor, came barely 24 hours after they appeared before the lawmakers.

The approval, NAIJAGAZETTE learnt, was sequel to the adoption of the report of the Committee of the Whole House, Chaired by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo.

The report was presented by the Deputy Speaker, Akeem Balogun, after which the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff moved the motion for its adoption, and it was seconded by Hon. Kemi Oduwole.

Consequently, the nominees were confirmed through a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Abdul Bashir Oladunjoye, and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote.

According to the report presented by the Deputy Speaker, “the Committee of the Whole House screened and found the nominees to be eligible and suitable to hold the Office of Commissioner in the State, in consonance with the provision of the 1999 Constitution (as altered).”
