The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has warned members to stay away from partisan politics.
Kwara State Chairman, AbdulKareem AbdulRasak, said the body was keen on ensuring peaceful elections in 2023.
AbdulRasak noted that the rules governing the NURTW do not allow any member to belong to political platforms.
“Once you are a member, you cannot support any political party, not to talk of campaigning for or moving around with them”, he told NAN.
The chairman warned that anyone found participating in rallies or fighting for politicians will be punished and dismissed.
“This is to ensure peace and stability in the country before, during and after the elections,” he said.
The union leader further regretted that many people had the wrong mindset about commercial drivers.
“No more thugs and hooligans in NURTW. We are responsible and respected people now,” AbdulRasak added.
