A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt will on the 17th of May, 2024 commence hearing on the murder trial involving a 400 level student of the Department of Petrochemical Engineering at the University of Port Harcourt, Damian Okoligwe.

Okoligwe is accused of killing his girlfriend, Justina Otuene, a 300 level student of Biochemistry in the same university.

Otuene was found dead in her boyfriend’s apartment by neighbours after Okoligwe attempted to dispose her remains.

When the matter was mentioned in court on Friday, the trial judge, Justice Chinwe Nsirim adjourned the case to Friday May 17 to enable the private legal lawyer, M.C. Mbaba, who has taken over the prosecution of the matter from the Rivers State Government, to get the case file from the State Ministry of Justice.
