LaLiga: Xavi reacts as Barcelona’s defeat hands Real Madrid 36th title

Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez, has claimed his team was better than Real Madrid and Girona this season.

The Catalans lost 4-2 to Girona on Saturday, handing Real the 36th LaLiga title in their history.

The result means Barca lost both league fixtures against Girona and Real.

But Xavi insists the results did not reflect the balance of play in those matches.

“In the four games against the two teams above us, Madrid and Girona, we have been superior.

“But it is not reflected in the scoreline and we have lost all four, so we have to improve a lot,” Xavi said.

Barcelona, who will end this campaign without silverware, will now compete with Girona to finish in second place.
