Transfer: Real Madrid pick Man United's best forward as Benzema's replacement

French striker Karim Benzema’s final game for Real Madrid has seen him break Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for most goals scored against Athletic Bilbao in the history of La Liga.

Benzema made his final appearance for Real Madrid against Lehoiak at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.

The Ballon d’Or winner has decided to leave Real Madrid when his contract expires at the end of this month.

The 35-year-old made history in his last outing for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, scoring from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute against Athletic Club.

His goal against the visitors means he now holds the record for the most goals scored by any player in La Liga history against Athletic Club (18).

It puts him above Ronaldo, who bagged 17 during his nine seasons at Real Madrid.
