Lagos man remanded in jail for tried homicide

A 31-year-old man, Reginald Mbanu, has been remanded within the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for breaking into the residence of Olatunbosun Oladunke and allegedly trying to kill one Olugbenga Obileye, at their residence within the Lekki space of Lagos State.

Mbanu who’s going through five-count bordering on conspiracy, housebreaking, assault, tried kidnap, and tried homicide, was arraigned earlier than a Justice of the Peace’s Court docket, sitting within the Ogba space of the state.

“That you just, Reginald Mbonu, and others at giant, on the aforementioned day and handle, whereas armed with a silver-colored knife, did try and kill one Obileye Olugbenga, by stabbing him on the face, rib, chest, neck, and two fingers; and likewise did try and kidnap one Semilore Oladunke, by protecting his mouth with fabric and marching him out of his room whereas holding a knife towards his neck.”

The prosecution mentioned the offenses have been punishable beneath Sections 299, 298(2)(a), 230 (a) & (b), 245 of the Prison Legislation of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015, and Part 4 (I) (ii) of the Kidnapping Prohibition Legislation of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2017.

Nonetheless, the defendant pleaded not responsible to the offenses.

The Justice of the Peace ordered the remand of Mbanu within the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, and the matter was adjourned until September 28, 2022, pending the Directorate of Public Prosecution’s recommendation.
