Jagaban Cup: Broad City FC's Coach Downplays 3-1 Loss To 36 Lion

Broad City FC of Lagos coach, Oluwaseun Ogunmoyero, has downplayed his team’s 3-1 loss to 36 Lion FC in the ongoing Jagaban Cup at Mobalaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Ogunmoyero was defiant despite the heavy defeat and declared that he actually fielded an exhibition squad to showcase various talents in front of foreign scouts.

Ogunmoyero added: “This is just a competition for us to exhibit ourselves and show some of the players to scouts. It’s a scouting game for us to show how developed our players are and test the new set of players that want to feature in the team.

“Some have left, so we need time to fit new ones into the team’s cohesion and understand one another. We need to blend the old players with the new ones coming in.
“Some of the boys are trying to adapt, even as they are settling in. So, it’s not mostly about the result, but how well they perform individually.

“That is what we use to grade them … if they are to stay in the team or to leave. It’s part of the process, the learning curve, and personal development, which is the number one priority for our players.

“The second half of the Creative League showed that we performed better in the first leg than the second leg. We are trying to reshuffle after getting a programme that engaged some of our players to travel for Viareggio Cup, and we are missing them in the TTC League.

“These are some of the things that happened in the second leg; so we had to adjust with the second team and third team for the TTC. We even had to register some new players midway through the competition.

“It’s not an excuse, of course, but we still have to know how to bring the team together to work together as one, just like the way we ended it last year.”
