Manchester City forward Jack Grealish has admitted he still finds one question from his mother difficult to answer.
The 28-year-old might have won the treble last season, and be a key player for England, but that doesn’t appease everyone.
Grealish became the most expensive British player in 2021 when he joining Man City from Aston Villa in a £100million deal, but this has since been surpassed by Declan Rice who cost Arsenal £105m.
His first two campaigns were a success at the Etihad but the Three Lions star has endured a tough season blighted by several injuries.
He made a return to action as his side drew 0-0 with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon – but received a dressing down from Pep Guardiola at full-time.
And despite being adored by Man City fans, it is the total opposite when playing away from home, and he can’t get his head around it – and neither can his mother.

“I always think about it. I always wonder, ‘why do they boo me?’ – and my mum always asks me about it as well,” he said.
“But I don’t actually know why it happens. At every single away ground I go to now, I get booed and I’m not entirely sure why it is – I just have to try and take it as a positive or a compliment.”
Grealish has already won six trophies with his current employers helping to silence his critics.
He was part of his side’s historic treble, helping Man City to their first-ever Champions League triumph last campaign.
His side are remain in the hunt for three trophies this campaign, looking to get their hands on three trophies once against – the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
Man City are currently third in the English top flight, on 63 points, behind both Arsenal and league leaders Liverpool.
