Five students of the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State who were kidnapped by terrorists about two months ago have regained their freedom.

Naija News reports that the Dean of Students Affairs of the University, Dr Lawal Sa’ad, confirmed the development to NTA News on Sunday.

Sa’ ad revealed that the Nigerian military rescued the kidnapped victims and handed them over to the management of the institution over the weekend.

He said the released students who underwent some medical treatments have since been reunited with their respective families.

A video of operatives of the Nigerian Army beating up an officer of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, on Monday, August 14th, 2023, at the Ojota area of Lagos state has surfaced on social media.

In the trending video, the soldiers were seen pouncing and beating up a yet-to-be-identified LASTMA official who pleaded in tears to be freed.

The LASTMA official was beaten by the military men a week after a LASTMA official was captured assaulting a soldier inside a commercial vehicle popularly called ‘Danfo’ in the Ketu area of the state.

In retaliation to the assault meted out on one of their own, a group of uniformed men stormed Ojota beating to stupor the LASTMA official on duty around the area.

Onlookers could be seen scampering for safety whilst the military pounced on the LASTMA, pleading for help during the incident.
