Dutch Eredivisie: Calvin Bassey wins big with Ajax

Calvin Bassey enjoyed a good outing with his club, Ajax Amsterdam, against RKC Waalwijk at Mandemakers Stadion on Saturday night.

The 22-year-old defender was in fine form as his club secured a 4-1 away victory to strengthen their position on top of the table.

Coach Alfred Schreuder deployed the player to left back position, following recent success playing from the position and Bassey was solid all through.

The Super Eagles star made four (4) tackles, one (1) clearance, won five (5) of his eight (8) duels, and blocked one (1) shot.

In addition, Bassey had 51 passes with 85% accuracy, played four (4) crosses, and found a teammate with two (2) of his three (3) long balls.

Ajax have now won their last three league games convincingly, and are sitting on the table with four points ahead of second place PSV, although the former have played a game more.

Next for the Dutch champions is a home game against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Wednesday.
