DJ Maphorisa arrested for assaulting girlfriend

DJ Maphorisa, a popular South African music producer, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Thuli Phongolo.

According to reports, the incident occurred at Phongolo’s apartment in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Phongolo, who is also a club DJ and an actress, reported the incident to the police and made a statement at the Sandton police station.

She claimed that the assault started after she confronted Maphorisa about their argument the previous night.

“He became aggressive and started to punch me with his fists on my chest. He held me and took me to the balcony, and grabbed me aggressively by my neck,” Phongolo said in her statement.

The actress also alleged that her boyfriend took her phone during the assault, but later returned it.

She then contacted her manager, who took her to the police station to open a domestic abuse case against Maphorisa.

Maphorisa is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on a charge of assault.

The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for justice to be served.

In a statement, the South African Police Service (SAPS) urged victims of domestic abuse to come forward and report cases to the police.

“We condemn all forms of violence against women and children, and we encourage victims to come forward and report these cases to the police. We will do everything in our power to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice,” the statement read.
