Bashir Ahmad Knocks Gov. Yusuf For Demolishing Round About Built By Ganduje In Kano

Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has commended the Northern Senators for cautioning President Bola Tinubu against using Nigerian troops to invade Niger Republic.

Naija News earlier reported that the Northern Senators Forum (NSF) had warned the President against the deployment of the Nigerian military to restore democratic rule in the West African country.

Speaking with reporters in Abuja on Friday, the spokesman of the Northern Senators, Suleiman Kawu, asked Tinubu to exhaust all diplomatic means in resolving the crisis in Niger.

The northern senators also urged the president to be focused on political and diplomatic means to restore democratic government in the neighbouring nation.

The Forum warned that deploying Nigerian troops to the Niger Republic will negatively affect seven northern states sharing borders with the West African country.

Reacting to the development in a Twitter post on Saturday, Ahmad applauded the northern senators for condemning the coup in Niger and advocating a diplomatic way to address the situation.

He wrote: “It is good that in their statement, the Northern Senators join the rest of the world in strongly condemning the coup in Niger Republic and caution the Nigerian government against using military power in the neighboring country while advocating a diplomatic way to address the situation. The Senators also frown at the economic and other sanctions.”
