5 Things We Are Looking Forward To At AMVCA 10

If there are two things the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is known for, it has to be the glitz and glamour that make every edition a must-watch.

As you should know, AMVCA 10 will eat and leave no crumbs as the organizers have decided to go even bigger!

This year, we are promised an edition just as spectacular as or more than the previous ones, as celebrities and the who’s-who of the African entertainment industry gear up to grace us with their presence at Eko Hotels and Suites on Friday 10 and Saturday 11,  May 2024.

With the 10th edition of the AMVCA just a few days away, here are five things to look forward to…

Fashion

That’s the word!

From Osas Ighodaro’s timeless piece made by the show-stopping fashion designer, Veekee James, to Ebuka’s steal-our-breath outfits, the AMVCA puts the best of African fashion on display and we can’t wait to see what the attendees will be putting out on the red carpet this year.

Whatever they will be laying on the table, we are here for it!

Pomp, Pageantry, and Paparazzi

What’s an awards show without the 3 P’s? We mean, pomp, pageantry, and paparazzi (sprinkled with a huge dose of effizy).

AMVCA - Pomp, Pageantry, and Paparazzi

From the Cultural Day event to the Award night, we are looking forward to the news, trends, and, of course, the drama that will definitely get the African social media space  buzzing non-stop all weekend-long and way after.

The red carpet will be hosted by the stylish trio of Toke Makinwa, Uti Nwachukwu, and VJ Adams. And with IK Osakioduwa stirring the event on stage, you best believe that it’s about to go down.

If you are a lover of pomp, pageantry, and paparazzi, the AMVCA 10 is calling your name.

Performances

The AMVCA has never let us down with premium entertainment.

Performances at AMVCA

If in doubt, then let’s take a trip down memory lane… did you see the legendary Lagbaja’s performance at AMVCA 8?

We hope your answer was yes because Kingdom and Akunna’s performance at the AMVCA 8 was so moving, it brought a few (or many) to tears with their soul-stirring voices and heartwarming tribute.

Because we are your guys, that’s not all… Tiwa Savage lit up the stage with her performance at the AMVCA 9, alongside Sypro. The ‘Kukere master,’ Iyanya, also got all the ladies (and even gentlemen) dancing to hit singles, ‘One Side’ and ‘Like.’

With these few points, we hope you have been fully convinced that this year’s performances are definitely something to look forward to.*Drops mic*

Surprise Award Winners

Just like Charles Inojie said “Na Dem Dey Rush Us!” at the 2018 AMVCA, surprises are bound to  rush us from unexpected wins at this edition.

We already anticipate this, considering the changes made to the non-voting and audience voting categories and the installation of a fresh panel of judges headed by filmmaking whiz, Femi Odugbemi.

To add icing to the cake, this year, we got the youngest nominee in the ‘Best Lead Actor’ category, David Ezekiel, as well as some first-time, fresh-out-of-the-oven nominees, like ‘the law’ himself, Layi Wasabi, Tana Adelana, Levi Chikere, ‘fine boy’ Ademola Adedoyin, Ejiro Onojaife of Madam Koi Koi fame, and a few more out-of-this-world actors and actresses.

For this edition, we recommend you stay glued to all Africa Magic channels for the live broadcast, with a chilled drink and good food beside you because the bars will be raised.

The Afterparty

There ain’t no party like the AMVCA party, you have to get ready to turn up!

AMVCA Afterparty

For us, it’s all about the finger-licking food, good music, and good vibes all around, and even if you are not a guest this year, be unafraid to raise a glass and celebrate the wins, the losses, and the amount of work millions of Africans across the globe have put into telling the African story like no one else does.
