Sergio Aguero suffers heart scare during live Twitch stream

Former Manchester City and Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero suffered a heart scare during a live stream on Twitch this week, much to the concern of his co-host.

Aguero has acquired a massive following on the streaming platform, which is incredibly popular in Spain in particular. This week, he was streaming alongside Ibai Llanos.

But during the stream, the 34-year-old paused and seemed to hold his chest. Llanos noticed, asking the retired footballer if he was okay and if he needed a doctor.

“I think…I just had a mini-arrhythmia,” Aguero replied.

He also explained why he didn’t need any medical attention and was okay to carry on: “Because I have a chip and the famous chip will detect it and send a signal.”

Although a distressing incident, it was also an important reminder why Aguero took the difficult decision to prematurely end his football career in 2021.

Having scored 260 goals in 390 Manchester City appearances, firmly cementing himself as one of the club’s greatest ever players, Aguero left the Etihad Stadium at the end of his contract in 2021.

A month earlier, the forward had agreed a two-year contract with Barcelona. A calf injury in pre-season delayed his debut for a couple of months, but Aguero scored his first Barça goal as a substitute off the bench in El Clasico against Real Madrid.

However, it proved to be his only goal for the Blaugrana. In the same month that he made his debut and only his second Barcelona start, Aguero suffered what was later diagnosed as an arrhythmia towards the end of the first of a game against Alaves at Camp Nou.

He was initially expected to take three months out of the game to recover, but announced his immediate retirement only a few weeks later.
