Oby Ezekwesili Calls Out Police Over Arrest Of Popular Labour Party Member

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has called out the Nigerian Police over the arrest of a popular Twitter influencer and Labour Party (LP) member with the handle @Chude.

Naija News reports the LP member was consistently updating his page with events and happenings across the 28 states where the governorship elections were held before his arrest later Saturday evening.

In a post via Twitter, Oby confirmed the arrest of @Chude, and the Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, said he was arrested for cybersecurity crime by the Nigerian police and taken to Abuja.

Expressing anger over the development, the co-convener of #BringBackOurGirls said the Inspector General of Police should disclose the crime that @Chude committed.

She wrote: “I have an update on @chude__. According to Governor @CCSoludo, the Commissioner of @PoliceNG for Anambra confirmed to him that Chude was arrested for cybersecurity crime by @PoliceNG @Interpol & taken to Abuja.

“Now we must ask the IGP @NigeriaGov to disclose his crime now. To arrest a citizen @chude__whose digital footprint is as a visible vocal voice for @NgLabour Presidential Candidate @PeterObi on allegations of cybersecurity, crimes places a DUTY on the @PoliceNG @Interpol @NigeriaGov to transparently disclose the crimes to the public. Do so.

“An extremely sad case of Anambra State Government becoming heavy handed and “majoring in the minors”. I took this up with Governor @CCSoludo last night and specifically asked for the immediate release of @chude__ .No citizen should suffer for their political views”
