Mikel Arteta has praised William Saliba and his Arsenal players for their ‘unbelievable’ mentality following the goalless draw with Manchester City on Sunday.

Arsenal became the first team in 76 Premier League games to stop City from scoring at home as their solid defensive display earned them a point at the Etihad Stadium.

The draw means Arsenal have slipped to second in the Premier League and two points behind Liverpool, who came from behind to beat Brighton on Sunday.

And Saliba admits his Arsenal teammates were not fully satisfied with just a draw against the reigning Premier League champions.

‘It was a tough game against a big team,’ Saliba said.

‘We are not satisfied 100 per cent but it’s okay, we take the point.

‘We know it’s not easy to come here and to not concede, we did well.

‘Of course we can be proud to stop them scoring but it’s not finished, there are nine games still and we have to win it.

‘It’s good for confidence, we are not satisfied fully, but it’s okay, we take the point, we move forward and we are already focused on the next game.’

When asked about Saliba being unsatisfied with a point against City, Arteta told Arsenal Player: ‘That’s the feeling I get in the dressing room – that’s unbelievable.

‘We have prevented this team for the first time in three years to score a goal at home, and that tells you the difficulty of it.

‘But they want more and I think individually we could’ve done more, as a team we could’ve done more, and that’s good to see.’
