Man, Isyaku Babale Fatally Stab Elder Brother In Bauchi Following Argument Over “Sholi” Liquid

A tragic incident unfolded in Bauchi as the police apprehended Isyaku Babale, 30, for allegedly fatally stabbing his elder brother amidst a heated argument over the consumption of a locally made liquid substance known as “Sholi.”

According to a statement issued by the Bauchi Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Monday, the suspect’s arrest followed a distress call received by the Township Police Divisional headquarters, prompting swift action from law enforcement officers.

SP Ahmed Wakil, the police spokesperson, revealed that the victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) after the altercation turned violent, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect wielded a knife during the altercation, resulting in the fatal stabbing of his elder brother in the stomach,” Wakil stated, shedding light on the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.

“The altercation erupted when the younger brother objected to his elder sibling’s use of ‘Sholi’ in their shared room due to its unpleasant odor. Tempers flared, culminating in a physical confrontation that tragically ended in the loss of life,” Wakil continued.

Further probing into the incident revealed a history of violent altercations between the siblings, raising questions about underlying tensions within the family dynamic.

Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has ordered a thorough investigation to ascertain any underlying motives behind the suspect’s actions and ensure that justice is served.

“The Commissioner of Police has directed a discreet investigation to uncover any additional factors contributing to this tragic incident,” Wakil affirmed, emphasizing the commitment of the police force to ensure that those responsible for the heinous crime are brought to justice.

As the investigation unfolds, the community remains in shock over the senseless loss of life, underscoring the urgent need for conflict resolution and mediation strategies to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
