Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has urged those who contested the recent election with him to join him in making the state great.

He made this disclosure on Saturday.

DAILY POST recalls that the governor, who re-contested on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was on Sunday declared as winner of the gubernatorial election held last week Saturday.

The election was conducted in all the 33 local government areas of the state on Saturday, 18th March this year.

Makinde scored a total of 563,756 votes to defeat all other candidates.

All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin scored 256,685 votes while Accord candidate, Adebayo Adelabu scored a total of 38,357 votes.

Speaking during a radio programme monitored by DAILY POST on Saturday, he noted that the need for Folarin, Adelabu and other constants to join hands with him was necessary in order to move the state to greater heights.

He described his victory during the election as a victory for the people of the state, adding that he is open to working with the ideas of his co-contestants wherever they are found to be superior to his.

“The issue of the electioneering campaign is behind us now and we are to battle the issue of governance now.

“This is our state and commonwealth and we must make sure we move our state forward.

“I also want to thank the political parties that collapsed their structures to support me,” he said.
