The unthinkable is happening in FPL this week, with fantasy managers actively transferring out the most successful and most owned player in the game, Erling Haaland.

The reasoning is that he’s without a fixture this week and then faces a single gameweek fixture against Liverpool in Double Gameweek 29.

With a plethora of replacements having three fixtures to Haaland’s one over the next two gameweeks, a short term sale of the Norwegian is definitely plausible. So who are the best candidates to transfer in this week?

Ollie Watkins

Ollie Watkins has been one of the form players in the Premier League in recent weeks, scoring six times in his last seven games. During last weekend’s fixtures, he led the way for non penalty xG, with a metric of 0.94 and he has an upcoming double gameweek.

His underlying numbers are particularly interesting as he leads the way for big chances in the last four gameweeks with six. Watkins also tops the charts for shots on target with eight, which suggests his consistency of returns are sustainable in the long term.

Kai Havertz

Kai Havertz has made a late charge to feature in our FPL squads for Gameweek 28, after starting each of Chelsea’s last three Premier League games, scoring one goal. He’s played 90 minutes in each of these occasions and he’s now on penalties too.

Chelsea have seen a recent return to form in all competitions and have the advantage of three consecutive home games in the Premier League. The fixtures do turn after Double Gameweek 29 though and there are more Champions League fixtures to negotiate.

Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Iheanacho is very much a differential pick as a Haaland replacement, not least because his minutes are far from guaranteed, being substituted early in each of his last four fixtures. The Foxes are on a four game losing streak with no attacking returns from Iheanacho in that time.

However, there is plenty of promise within the underlying numbers. He’s had eight shots in the box in the last four gameweeks, registering three big chances on goal. Leicester’s fixtures are particularly attractive in Double Gameweek 29, with games against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.
