Ahmed Musa Sticks it to Super Eagles Teammates

In the wake of a lackluster commencement to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Nigeria’s Super Eagles find themselves slipping further down the rankings.

The latest FIFA world ranking, released on Thursday, November 30, reveals a drop of two places for the Super Eagles, from 40th to 42nd.

The decline in rankings follows the team’s underwhelming performance in their initial two Group C fixtures of the qualifiers.

In their first match against Lesotho, the Eagles managed only a 1-1 draw in Uyo, and a similar outcome unfolded in their second game against Zimbabwe.

Despite trailing, Jose Peseiro’s men rallied to secure another 1-1 draw.

As of now, the three-time African champions find themselves in the third position in Group C, trailing behind Rwanda, the current leaders, and South Africa in the second spot.

The drop in rankings aligns with the palpable disappointment surrounding the Super Eagles’ early campaign in the quest for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
