EPL: We struggled against Everton, my defenders over 30 years – Tuchel
Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel has said that his ageing defenders struggled against Everton on Saturday.
Jorginho’s penalty was enough for the Blues to win 1-0 at Goodison Park in their first Premier League opener.
Tuchel has already lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers this summer.
However, Chelsea have signed Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella to bolster their backline.
Koulibaly, Thiago Silva and captain Cesar Azpilicueta started in a three-man defence against Everton.
“All three of our players in the back three are in their 30s and we struggled a bit in general at the end of the game.
“We need to improve our physical level and we are on it,” Tuchel said.
