Graeme Souness has had his say on Erling Haaland after his Premier League debut for Manchester City.
The Norwegian scored twice to ensure a perfect start for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
This was after Haaland, who joined Man City from Dortmund this summer, scored two goals to give the Premier League champions all three points against West Ham at the London Stadium.
The Norwegian’s performance on Sunday was completely at odds with his woes at the King Power Stadium last weekend when City was defeated in the Community Shield by Liverpool.
He had thrown away two glorious chances, the worst seeing him hit the crossbar from just six yards out.
The former Borussia Dortmund star was heavily criticized on social media for the misses but bounced back on Sunday.
“He’s a bit of a throwback. He wants to run forward without the ball. If you are any player on the pitch and you’ve got a centre forward that doesn’t come to the ball all the time and is stretching the pitch, he will be a real asset,” Souness told talkSPORT.
“This young man will take them to another level.”
