England predicted lineup vs Ukraine

England will look to seal a second consecutive victory in Euro 2024 qualification when Ukraine come to town on Sunday.

An impressive, albeit nervy, victory over Italy on Thursday was a fantastic start to proceedings and now Gareth Southgate will expect another three points against Ukraine.

Here’s how the boss could set up.

GK: Jordan Pickford – Aaron Ramsdale is desperate for minutes but Southgate looks set to stick with Pickford.

RB: Kieran Trippier – Reece James would have likely started here but the Chelsea defender has been forced to withdraw through injury.

CB: John Stones – There’s a chance Stones could be handed a rest as he works his way back from injury, but Southgate will try and stick with his strongest defence early on.

CB: Harry Maguire – A mixed performance against Italy from Maguire, but the boss has already made it very clear that the Man Utd defender will always have a place in his team.

LB: Ben Chilwell – Luke Shaw’s red card last time out means Chilwell will have to come in and replace him.

DM: Jordan Henderson – Henderson stayed rooted to the bench against Italy but could start here to provide more veteran leadership.

CM: Conor Gallagher – Kalvin Phillips might need a rest after playing more minutes last time out than he has managed in the Premier League this season.

CM: Declan Rice – Rice and Jude Bellingham were both impressive but the latter might be carrying a knock.

RW: Bukayo Saka – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants Saka to play every possible game but he might be watching this one through his fingers as he pleads for his big names to return home healthy.

ST: Harry Kane – Kane may have secured England’s scoring record but he won’t have lost his desire to keep scoring.

LW: Phil Foden – After 20 minutes against Italy, Foden should come in from the start.
