Banditry: Govt imposes curfew on Karu from 10pm to 6am
With effect from Thursday, August 11, 2022, commercial activities, as well as vehicular movements and other human engagements around Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State would be restricted from 10pm to 6am every day.
This was announced by the Executive Chairman of Karu Local Government Council, Hon James Thomas, on Tuesday, while imposing curfew in the council area to boost security.
The imposition of curfew was the cardinal discussion when he chaired an expanded Peace and Security meeting with all the security agents of the Council.
According to him, “it has become imperative for us to take a holistic approach to curb or checkmate the security threat in our area, even though we are enjoying relative peace in Karu LGA but, we must work tirelessly and take all security measures to ensure we live in peace, considering our proximity to Abuja and criminals are using that as an option to take advantage.
“As such, we will take this as precautionary measures, from Thursday 11th August, 2022 till further notice, we will enforce a curfew from 10:PM to 6:AM.
“This will restrict all movement of vehicles, closure of all Cinema, bars and joints, and all other activities in Karu LGA”.
Paradise Cruise, Monaco Extreme, Hotplus, My Place are leading lounges, bars and sit outs around Abacha road in Mararaba, attracting an average of 100,000 visitors daily, especially, during weekends, due to array of social activities and other varieties.
With the latest curfew, it would surely be a season of counting losses for operators of those social joints and night club owners around the area.
The Chairman said the curfew is declared sine die.
