Chelsea Coach Comments On Mason Mount's Link With Bayern Munich

The manager of Chelsea, Graham Potter has described the club’s versatile player, Mason Mount, as a top professional when asked about the speculation that Bayern Munich are interested in Him.

Mason Mount has been having a very tough 2022-2023 season, especially after the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He has not been able to play consistently due to fitness issues which have greatly affected his form.

Amidst that, there have been negotiations between him and Chelsea for his current contract which will expire in the summer of 2024 to be extended. However, the two parties have not been able to reach an agreement so far.

Reports claimed that Chelsea have tabled a contract for Mason Mount which could earn him £200,000-per-week but the England international reportedly wants nothing less than £300,000 per week.

Reports in England claimed that Mount is making this demand because Raheem Sterling who joined Chelsea from Manchester City last summer is earning over £300,000 weekly.

Amidst that, former Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel, who was just appointed coach of Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in bringing Mount to Bayern this summer. Interestingly, Chelsea are said to have placed a £70 million price tag on him.

Recall that during Tuchel’s era at Chelsea, the German tactician and Mason Mount won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup together.

There are speculations that since Chelsea are not ready to give Mount what he wants, the 24-year-old Englishman wouldn’t mind a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

While reacting to all the speculations surrounding Mason Mount and his drop in form this season, Graham Potter said on Friday, “It’s been tough for him. How he’s acted has been top”.

“He’s had niggling injuries and noise and speculation. He’s a professional, a top professional, and a good lad.

“Sometimes in your career, things aren’t optimal and you have to act well and that’s exactly what he’s done.”

Mount who left England’s squad in March due to an injury could be available to play from the bench against Crystal Palace on Saturday. The game will kick off at 5:30 PM (WAT).
