Super Eagles continue poor start to their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign with another frustrating draw against Zimbabwe.
In a tightly contested Group C match in Rwanda on Sunday, the Super Eagles managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe’s Warriors.
Three days prior the team also drew 1-1 with Lesotho on matchday one.
Jose Peseiro’s side however managed to escape defeat as they came from a goal down to secure a draw.
Zimbabwe took the lead in the 26th minute with a remarkable long-range free-kick from Walter Musona.
Second half substitute, Kelechi Iheanacho leveled the score in the 65th minute, finishing off an assist from Moses Simon.
Zimbabwe nearly scored another goal in the 82nd minutes, when Francis Uzoho fumbled his attempt to save a cross. The ball fell kindly to an Opponent but the chance was wasted.
With two draws in two games, Nigeria currently sits in second place in Group C with two points.
The Super Eagles will face South Africa in a crucial home game on June 2, 2024, in the next round.
